Photography duo Stevie and Mada (Stevie Verocca and Mada Refujio) is based out of New York.

They’re known for their bold, persona-driven portraits that emphasize the body as an expressive material. Like their influences—Reneke Dijkstra, Katy Grannan and Deana Lawson—casting and location are central elements of their work. Their models take up space: posing, flaunting, and constructing their image for maximum agency. They own the environments they occupy. Their worlds become a throne/altar/stage on which to perform identity and destiny, form and fortune.

Stevie Mada’s signature hi-lo style combines romantic and vernacular, pastoral and plastic, club and cornfield. Their distinctive vision has been commissioned for editorials in Noon, Replica, and Purple (to name a few) along with campaigns for Marc Jacobs, Camper, and leading fashion brands around the world.
